They told me the credit card didn't work (bowser text was all in Hebrew) and then asked for payment by cash. Then I got the credit card bill which showed that the payment did work!!! Ie the attendant fleeced me for a double payment.
We had same problem as Jamie, very sad what those guys are able to do....
same happened to me last week
It is a gas station next to the Hertz Return. I bought gas: the guy said it does not work, then it works, back and forth. My chase card was charged with $ 56.-- whilst it should be approx. $ 10.-- Crooks, nothing else. And the gov. lets it.
The same thing happened to me on Sat 7th July. I speak Hebrew so I had no problem following the instructions. I put my credit card details in to start filling up with petrol (only just a top up for 20km since I had filled up to make sure that I was doing the right thing and returning the car full) and was told that the transaction had failed. I tried again and the same thing happened. I get back to Sydney and see 2 identical charges of AUD 74.94 on my credit card statement. Don't reckon my chances of getting the money back. Bloody furious!!
They charged me 450 ILS, but after transaction was processed within 4 days the amount was reduced to 138 ILS which actual gas price for me, so everything is ok after processing.

Same thing happened to me yesterday 21 April 2019. I filled up 156,92 shekels but the card payment out of the card account was approximately 3 times that. I am busy trying to get the extra charge reversed. Should have been approx 475 Shekels

Before delivering my rented car at the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv yesterday morning, June 11, 2019, I filled up the tank at a gas station. The cost of the gasoline was about 130 Shekels, which I paid with a Visa card. When I came back to Norway, I discovered the following day that the gas station, called ALON NATBAG on my internet bank transaction, had charged my account with 450 Shekels. That's a fraud of 320 Shekels, or close to 90 US dollars.
They charged my card $125 US when I paid for 100NIS of gas. This was full service lane with attendant swiping my card and pumping gas. Hertz car rental is looking into this station and asked for my receipt, bank statement, and this website link. Posted a message to my Bank to dispute the charge. Will re-post here when I hear back from Hertz since they had been recommending this station.
I posted a message above on June 12, 2019. After I told what had happened, the amount on my bank account was in fact adjusted. It seems that there is no longer any irregularity in what was drawn from my account.
I also was notified that this is usual practice and take 2 weeks to reconcile. My $125 overcharge was re-posted correctly as 100NIS the next day after Hertz spoke to them. I never see this “temporary” charge with other gas stations or other purchases made in Israel or other Countries. I am wondering if others on this website were automatically corrected.
Last Gas station before returning Rentalcar. I have used this Gasstation quite often. Today I get recipe for 176 NIS but they booked 450 NIS from my Creditcard.
hi,been there this morning at about 02.30 ,filled the car up for 256 nis and they charched the card for 109.72 £,trying to call them but getting no one to answer
They captured 450NIS (for full tank) with me also. But after 1,5 week they only captured the amount of money for the gasoline I took. So not to worry. They refund. It just takes a bit of time.
As the other, yesterday the 28 th of December 2019, The gas station charged me 450 shekels instead of 23 shekels. I'm going to contact my bank for a fraudulent payment.
