serina davi on April 07, 2016

this is the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario by city

Nina on April 29, 2016

MTO means Ministry of Transportation, SO means Service Ontario. This charge likely represents a service such as renewing your driver's license.

mark burns on May 26, 2016

I thought this fishy myself at first but it turned out to be a drivers licence renewal

Lucie on June 01, 2016

As Mark commented, I also wondered about this. After some thought, I realized this charge was for a photo ID card.

Ralphy Boy on June 13, 2016

took me a while to remember but yes it's legit. I ordered a personalized licence plate so Ministry of Transportation, SO likely means Service Ontario

Heather on June 30, 2017

For me this was a legitimate Service Ontario charge from renewing my drivers licence

landin on July 19, 2017

mto - ministry of transportation ontario, so- service ontario, toro-toronto, rus- ??

Joe Atkinson on August 08, 2017

This was for the renewal of my driver's license. MTO RUS-SO OTTAWA MTO & SO, I agree with previous interpretations. RUS - ? someone from the Ministry of Transportation should explain.

RALPH on August 28, 2017

This charge on my credit card statement is legitimate - however I do have a complaint. Of a list of over 50 transactions last month on my cards, this is the ONLY one described by a semi-meaningless acronym. Every other merchant and service charge was described in whole words!

Rose on September 10, 2017

Does anyone know, is it for drivers licence renewal or for licence plate sticker renewal?

Madeleine Leclerc on February 21, 2018

What is RUS? Why can't you make it simpler so that it is recognized right away? Why so complex when it could be so simple for everyone to recognize it immediately?

Dan on March 07, 2018

RUS = Road User Safety

J J on July 19, 2018

renewing your driver's license.

Nicholas Rassenti on May 22, 2019

I just spotted a very large charge from last August of $1756. The Ministry of transportation was no help and could not link it to my spouse's or my own license.

Michèle on July 19, 2019

Yes, legetimate for plate sticker renewal 😁

Ariell on August 19, 2019

Not fishy at all. This is Ministry of Transportation - Service Ontario. For me it showed up when I renewed my driver's license.

I received an Invoice for MTO-RUS D&V ARIR-IMP. Being invoiced for $233. I went to Ministry Of Finance on 33 King west Oshawa they did not what the charges was for Sent me to MTO. MTO could not tell me what was it for. Asked me to call Licensing Office 416-235-2999. They checked their records on both my cars and license suspension that came clean. Was told to call to call Finance Office 416-250-7250 who asked me to email the copy of Invoice to No fines or charges could not tell me what is it for. Can someone out there have received invoice like me? do you still think it is legit.

mary on February 25, 2020

Yes it is legitimate. You probably made a Service Ontario visit for Health Card (every 5 years) and/or Driver's License Renewal (1-2 years) and forgot. Great website!
