I questioned this too. But I remembered that I renewed my plate sticker for two years.
I had to renew my Ontario Driver's License and this was the text associated withthat charge.

as others have noted, it is the charge for getting your driver's abstract online from the Ministry of Transportation.

I am very annoyed. I tried calling my credit card to inquire what this was as i felt my card had been compromised! I needed to wait on line for long time just to find out it was for my licence. This is very confusing and pretty poor tranparency Customeres should be INFORMED prior to paying that it will be biiled by RUS SO ECHANNEL DOWNSVIEW or the credit card info should have somethig to indicate it is Gov Ont How does RUS SO ECHANNEL DOWNSVIEW indicate this is Gov Ont any way .
It might be the sticker renewal fee. They definitely should make it clear who it is paid for, not to have people guessing.
I had one that was $24.45 anyone know what that one was. I had one a few days later for $216 that i know was for a two year plate sticker. not sure about the $24.45

I had forgotten I had renewed my drivers license online, thx. To Carol, at least on my bill it also has the letters MTO which stands for Ministry of Transport Ontario...yet I still couldn't figure it out!

Yes it was my card used and it didn't get paid now I have to pay more money. Next time call the credit card company to get the phone number of mine to say yes I wanted to pay my son's bills he paid me back. But you MTO STOPPED IT I'M SO MAD
The $12 charge could be for drivers abstract you may have requested to submit to a new company you wish to join which requires that you have a clean drivers record. Did you recently change job ? Did someone in your family apply for a new job which requires driving?

This is ligit. I had requested an on-line Driving Abstract from Service Ontario and those charges matched exactly what i was charged on my Credit card. Would be nice if they update the info. appearing on your Credit Card statement with some short reference: Serv. ON - etc
I paid to renew my sticker online and somehow it failed and I has been almost a week that my transaction is still pending on my credit card even then tho the MTO is stipulating that my transaction didn’t go through and that I should not be charge. Help!!!

When you renew your car plate sticker and pay on-line...this appears on your bank statement....This is the first time it happens to me .. hope it is legitimate.

No it's not a safe site. They charged fof no reason. When I called them they were so abusive and rude to me. They are not legitimate. False people. Save your credit card info from them dont share.

I found this charge on my February, 2021credit card statement, and at first did not know what it was, but the MTO made me realize that it was from the Ministry or Toronto for my car license. I am convinced it is real.
Was mysteriously charged $310 on Feb invoice...on a new credit card (January). I processed nothing online or with Ministry of Transportation. This is Fraud! Will be contacting my CC company. I also confirmed yesterday, went to Service Ontario to validate...they confirmed no sticker was purchased or processed with MTO...and that I need to renew by May... so I purchased 1 year sticker renewal yesterday. I have receipt as proof and confirm this is indeed fraud.
my bank statement listed a purchase of $240 paid to "MTO RUS-SO ECHANNEL DOWNSVIEW On" couldnt remember what the charge was for, I thought with the word ECHANNEL had something to do with TV. Nope, it seems it is for my auto pate renewal. MTO sure makes things confusing, the form should say you will receive the notification of the charge from MTO RUS-SO ......
