I believe this is a charge from a train in Rome. My friends and I were travelling Europe last summer and accidentally messed up on our Eurail pass. The authorities on the train charged us 50 Euros because of our screw up, to make up for our train ticket. If you can remember if you were charged by the authorities on the train for ticket mess up, then this could be it.
Definitely a scam to rip off tourists. We purchased 4 tickets to Florence from Bologna and were directed to platform 18. On board the train the very rude ticket collector said we were on the wrong train and insisted we pay €308. When we refused, we were greeted by the police in Florence and made pay under the threat of arrest. Disgraceful way to treat visitors to a country.
