I had one of these today on my pending Visa transactions - it was a $1.00 charge - very suspicious - so I called Bed Bath and Beyond. Turns out that it was a placeholder on my credit card. I used their 'reserve online-pick up in store' mode and to reserve you have to give them a valid CC. The $1.00 charge is a reversible placeholder for it. The charge has already disappeared from my pending transactions once my 'real' payment for the item was made.
