I had a fraudulent charge of $371.67 on a credit card from these weasels
At first I thought this was a bogus charge. Then I realized that the title of the charge is misleading. I realized that this corresponded to an online car registration renewal I had recently done. It's legit...at least in my case.

I think we need to check with MVB because I also have this charge, more than the usual, but i did register my car recently through Rapid Renewal unless it is a fraudulent web sight. I think I will check into this further.
We are fine if you used this to register your Vehicle using Rapid Renew in Augusta, Me online. Here is the portion of my email received from Matt Levitt with Motor Vehicle. This email confirms that you have registered your vehicle online using the Rapid Renewal service. You have been charged $163.64, and your statement will read ME MUNI CAR-BOAT REG (for credit cards). Hope this helps. We unfortunately still need to be careful with so many things. I will say the MVB is one of the nicest places I have ever dealt with no matter how stressful or many people are waiting. Due to people like Matt.

I was confused at first, but figured out that the $25 charge was the charge to keep my current license plate number when the ME license plates change this May.

I had two charges to this account. Turns out it was for a vanity plate I ordered with the new ME license plate, and the other was a charge for the new license plate using my old number on another car. If you pick up your new Pine Tree license plate in the town office, you will not get a charge, unless you want a special number....
